译文
Confucius once remarked, "A wise and good man may be known in three ways which I am not able to show in my own person. As a moral man he is free from anxiety; as a man of understanding he is free from doubt; and as a man of courage he is free from fear." A disciple, who heard what Confucius said, then remarked, "That is only what you say of yourself, sir."

文中,“君子道者三,我无能焉”一句,“君子道者三”译为“a wise and good man may be known in three ways”,“一个明智而良善的人,会通过三种方式被人知晓”。这三种方式即“仁者不忧,知者不惑,勇者不惧”。其中,“仁者不忧”译为“as a moral man he is free from anxiety”,“作为一个道德的人,他免于忧虑”;“知者不惑”译为“as a man of understanding he is free from doubt”,“作为一个智慧通达的人,他免于困惑”;“勇者不惧”译为“as a man of courage he is free from fear”,“作为一个有勇气的人,他免于恐惧”。孔子认为,这是君子应具有的三个典型特质。
